Slurring Thomas Jefferson
The
charge that Thomas Jefferson fathered a slave boy went back to the time of
his presidency, and was given new life in Fawn Brodie's 1974 book Thomas
Jefferson: An Intimate History. She was proved wrong in the late
1990s by DNA testing on the descendants of
both Jefferson family members and slaves which demonstrated that her
candidate had no genetic link at all.
Published in the British science journal Nature,
the study did find an unanticipated connection to a different slave
family, and the article's misleading title, "Jefferson Fathered Slave's
Last Child," caused an immediate sensation.
Nature
was
roundly criticized by other science journals because its
headline over-stepped the actual results of the study which only proved
that someone in the Jefferson line was connected with the descendants of
the slave Sally Hemings. Not surprisingly, the mass media picked up on
the Nature story's title and not the scientific
criticism.

fascination with technological progress for its own sake.
This must be tackled, he
said, by the creation of a global political authority and financial order

in a 144-page encyclical – a reflection on doctrine that is the highest
form of papal writing – three days before he was due to discuss the global

Caritas in Veritate
(Charity in Truth) is Benedict's third encyclical and the first to deal
exclusively with economic and social issues. In one section, he says the
current economic crisis is "clear proof" of the "pernicious effects of
sin".
The pope's analysis echoed
some of the criticisms made by the archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan
Williams, of government policies that target growth to the exclusion of
wider social considerations. But, as its title suggests, the papal
encyclical is a primarily theological discourse which takes as its point
of departure the argument that only a belief in the truth as proclaimed by
Christianity can offer the necessary answers.
Medvedev Shows Off Sample Coin of New
‘World Currency’ at G-8
July 10 (Bloomberg) --
Russian President
Dmitry Medvedev
illustrated his call for a supranational currency to replace the dollar by
pulling from his pocket a sample coin of a “united future world currency.”
“Here it is,” Medvedev told
reporters today in L’Aquila, Italy, after a summit of the Group of Eight
nations. “You can see it and touch it.”
The
coin,
which bears the words “unity in diversity,” was minted in Belgium and
presented to the heads of G-8 delegations, Medvedev said.
The question of a
supranational currency “concerns everyone now, even the mints,” Medvedev
said. The test coin “means they’re getting ready. I think it’s a good sign
that we understand how interdependent we are.”
Medvedev has repeatedly
called for creating a mix of regional reserve currencies as part of the
drive to address the global financial crisis, while questioning the U.S.
dollar’s future as a global reserve currency. Russia’s proposals for the
G-20 meeting in London in April included the creation of a supranational
currency.

Past of the 'Green Jobs' Czar
The administration’s “Green Jobs”
czar, Van Jones, has a “very checkered past” deep-rooted in radical
politics, including black nationalism, anarchism, and communism. The
broadcast network newscasts have mostly failed to report on Mr. Jones’s
past political affiliations which are lock-step with the network’s
downplay of coverage regarding President Obama’s associations with the
former radical and terrorist William Ayers during the election.
At 6:47 a.m. EDT on the July 10
edition of “Fox and Friends,” Americans for Prosperity Policy Director
Phil Kerpen, told interviewer Brian Kilmeade that Jones is “somebody who
was involved in radical politics in San Francisco, “who was
self-admittedly “radicalized in jail” and found “Communism and anarchism.”
Kerpen compares Van Jones’s Communist past with his new quest for
environmentalism and the creation of green jobs:
I think it’s pretty instructive what
his past is...it’s the same sort of philosophy, the idea that government
ought to be reordering society in accordance with some utopian vision that
failed with communism and socialism, and will fail with this green jobs
idea.
Democratic Leader Laughs at Idea That House Members Would Actually Read
Health-Care Bill Before Voting On It Washington
(CNSNews.com) - House Majority Leader Steny
Hoyer (D-Md.) said Tuesday that the health-care reform bill now pending in
Congress would garner very few votes if lawmakers actually had to read the
entire bill before voting on it.
“If every member pledged to not vote for it if they hadn’t read it in its
entirety, I think we would have very few votes,” Hoyer told CNSNews.com at
his regular weekly news conference.
Hoyer was responding to a question from CNSNews.com on whether he
supported a pledge that asks members of the Congress to read the entire
bill before voting on it and also make the full text of the bill available
to the public for 72 hours before a vote.
In fact, Hoyer found the idea of the pledge humorous, laughing as he
responded to the question. “I’m laughing because a) I don’t know how long
this bill is going to be, but it’s going to be a very long bill,” he said
As
an example of how just irrelevant and silly government has become — in
addition to becoming increasingly tyrannical and authoritarian — consider

Jackson-Lee’s bill proposes
a “tribute to an American legend and musical icon,” Michael Jackson. For
some reason it was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Jackson is described as a
“noted humanitarian,” a dominant figure in popular music and the first
African-American entertainer to amass a strong crossover following on MTV,
a general all-around good guy who supported the NAACP, the United Negro
College Fund, Make a Wish Foundation, Give For Life, who donated $500,000
to Elizabeth Taylor’s AIDS Foundation, donated more than 200 turkey
dinners to needy families in Los Angeles, etc., ad nauseam.
In other words, Michael
Jackson — like any other celebrity — did a few good things. However, none
of it has anything to do with the business of the people who elected Ms.
Jackson-Lee to represent them.
The government should not
waste taxpayer money lionizing a “musical icon.” One wonders how many
staffers and how many hours were squandered writing this preposterous
“bill” that is nothing more than a shameless effort to pander to the media
circus and feeding frenzy surrounding the death of a washed-up performer
who apparently died from a drug overdose (it is said his home was stocked
like a pharmacy with sedatives and there are persistent rumors of
Jackson’s abuse of Oxycontin and possibly IV medications).
Let the corporate
entertainment media concentrate on Michael Jackson. Our representatives
should have more important business to deal with.
Tom Ganley kicks off bid for U.S. Senate
BRECKSVILLE -- Auto dealer
Tom Ganley today officially announced that he's running for the Republican
Party's nomination for the U.S. Senate. Ganley, of Brecksville, looks to
take the seat of retiring U.S. Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, whose term
ends in 2010.
Ganley has been in the car
business since 1968 and he is now the Chief Executive Officer of the
32-dealership Ganley Auto Group.
In today's announcement,
Ganley said he is a businessman, not a politician, and a businessman is
what is needed in Washington now to deal with the economic problems facing
the U.S.
Ganley recently lost some
of his Chrysler dealerships which were profitable because of the Chrysler
bankruptcy and restructuring required to get a federal bailout.
Ganley could face former
U.S. Rep. Rob Portman, of Cincinnati, in a Republican primary, as Portman
has announced his intent to run for the seat as well.
On the Democratic side,
Ohio Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher and Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner have
also announced their intentions to run for the seat.
eBay seller claims certified Kenya birth certificate
Says copy sports embossed seal, signature of physician
WASHINGTON – The eBay birth
certificate saga continues.
A seller claiming to have a
certified copy of Barack Obama's birth certificate issued in a Mombasa,
Kenya,
hospital in 1961 is back up on eBay telling her story. Six previous times
the posts have been removed.
Even when the seller
offered only autographed pictures of those allegedly responsible for
securing the document, the posts have been removed.
The seller now insists a
YouTube video will be produced, presumably including images of the
document. Then, the seller says, the full story will be given to WND.
"So now eBay removes my
listing for selling a picture?" asks the latest post. "That doesn't
sound bizarre to anyone?"
The seller claims in the
latest post on eBay that the birth certificate contains the name of
Obama's mother and father, the name of the physician present, along with a
signature, and that it is "an exact copy of the original 1961 Mombasa
hospital birth certificate. Includes 2009 embossed seal of the hospital
in Mombasa. Contains a 2009 signature from staff that issued this
copy with embossed seal."

bankers and the American automobile manufacturers yet do nothing about
the real thieves in this situation, Mr. Dodd, Mr. Frank, Franklin
Raines, Jamie Gorelic, the Fannie
Mae bonuses, and the Freddie
Mac bonuses. What do you intend to do about them? Anything?
I seriously doubt it.
What about the U.S. House members passing out $9.1 million in bonuses
to their staff members - on top of the $2.5 million in automatic pay
raises
that lawmakers gave themselves? I understand the average House aide got
a 17% bonus. I took a 5% cut in my pay to save jobs with my employer.
You haven't said anything about that. Who authorized that? I surely
didn't! Executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be receiving $210
million
in bonuses over an eighteen-month period, that's $45 million more than
the
AIG bonuses. In fact, Fannie and Freddie executives have already been
awarded $51 million - not a bad take. Who authorized that and why
haven't you expressed your outrage at this group who are largely
responsible for the
economic mess we have right now.
I resent that you take me and my fellow
citizens as brain-dead and not
caring about what you idiots do. We are watching what you are doing and
we
are getting increasingly fed up with all of you. I also want you to know
that I personally find just about everything you do and say to be
offensive to
every one of my sensibilities. I promise you that I will work
tirelessly to see that you do not get a chance to spend two terms
destroying my beautiful country.

Bureaucrats Could Determine Who Lives Or Dies
New
York Times Poll Showing 72% Support for Obama's Health Care Plan Was
Stacked With Obama Supporters (CNSNews.com)
- A New York Times/CBS News poll released Saturday that showed broad
bipartisan support for President Obama’s health care reform, over-sampled
Obama voters compared to McCain voters, critics say.
The poll, administered June 12-16, found that 72 percent of respondents
favored the creation of a government health-insurance plan that would
compete with private insurers.
It also said 50 percent of respondents thought the government would do a
better job providing medical coverage than private insurers, up from 30
percent in 2007; and that 59 percent thought the government would be
better at holding down costs, up from 47 percent two years ago.
But critics including pollster Kellyanne Conway say the results are
inaccurate because they are heavily skewed toward those who voted for
Obama in the 2008 presidential election.
In addition, other indicators point toward a repeat of the defeat Hillary
Clinton's proposed government-run faced in the early ‘90’s.
Out of 895 respondents, 24 percent were Republicans, 38 percent Democrats,
and 38 percent were independents, according to a June 20 release from CBS
News. While the release says the sampling was conducted at random, those
numbers are significantly below the 32.6 percent who
identify themselves as Republican according to a May survey from the

Obama's New State-Run Show
The cast of Obama Czars hit the
dance floor on the new show with the highly anticipated season premiere of
Dancing with the Czars .
You will be introduced to twelve
Czars, who hold varying positions of power within the administration. The
great thing about them is that Czars operate with impunity and are "under
the radar" when it comes to making policy. They are accountable to no one
except the President and, oh man, can they dance.
The rules are unknown and the Czars
don't have to undergo Senate Confirmation Hearings, they simply get
appointed. Not only do they have immunity from elimination, Obama is
likely to appoint more in the coming months.
Episode One will feature President
Obama and TARP Czar Herb Allison. You will marvel at their prowess as they
dance the Constitutional Side Step on the grave of Thomas Jefferson.
Following episodes are sure to
feature Energy Czar Carol Browner and Health Reform Czar Nancy-Ann DeParle.
With their solutions to problems being just the opposite of what is
needed, their performance is guaranteed to be dangerous and entertaining.
Then there is Stimulus Accountability Czar Earl Devaney; his title alone
is pure entertainment and his tap dancing will astound all.
Other dancers such as InfoTech Czar,
and Urban Czar are quite the mystery. No one seems to know exactly what
they do. Do they have talent or were they appointed to their positions as
political favors? You'll have to watch to find out.

yet another “czar” with massive government power, answering only to him.
Even before this latest appointment, the top-ranking Democrat in the
Senate wrote President Obama a letter saying that these czars are
unconstitutional. President Obama’s “czar strategy” is an unprecedented
power grab centralizing authority in the White House, outside
congressional oversight and in violation of the Constitution.
Obama is
creating a new form of government with a
growing network of "czars"
that do not have to be approved by the Senate, nor are they subject to the
oversight of Congress. So far, 21 Czars have been appointed, with
assignments and salaries set by Obama and accountable only to Obama. This
network
of White House officers bypasses the
traditional executive
organizational
structure
that relies on Cabinet secretaries to administer
laws
and promulgate rules subject to congressional oversight and supervision.
Chavez to Castro:
'Comrade' Obama Farther Left Than Us
Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez
said on Tuesday that he and Cuban ally Fidel Castro risk being more
conservative than U.S. President Barack Obama as Washington prepares to
take control of General Motors Corp.
During one of Chavez's customary
lectures on the "curse" of capitalism and the bonanzas of socialism, the
Venezuelan leader made reference to GM's bankruptcy filing, which is
expected to give the U.S. government a 60 percent stake in the
100-year-old former symbol of American might.
"Hey, Obama has just nationalized
nothing more and nothing less than General Motors. Comrade Obama! Fidel,
careful or we are going to end up to his right," Chavez joked on a live
television broadcast.
During a decade in government,
Chavez has nationalized most of Venezuela's key economic sectors,
including multibillion dollar oil projects, often via joint ventures with
the private sector that give the state a 60 percent controlling stake.
Obama has vowed to quickly sell off
General Motors once the auto giant is back on its feet, but the government
will initially control the company after a $30 billion injection of
taxpayer funds.
Chavez, a vehement critic of the
U.S. "empire," has toned down his rhetoric since Obama took office in
January and the two men shook hands during a summit in Trinidad and Tobago
in April.
