Hillary Clinton supporters still trying to derail Obama nomination
A massive e-mail and Internet campaign
is under way aimed at derailing the nomination of Barack Obama and making
Hillary Clinton the party’s standard bearer next week at the Democratic
National Convention in Denver.
“It’s downright nasty,” said Memphis,
Tenn., superdelegate and city council member Myron Lowery, who has shared
dozens of the messages he’s received with The (Memphis) Commercial Appeal
newspaper.
“I think it’s divisive for the
‘Support Hillary’ campaign to continue at this time. She made the decision
to fully support Mr. Obama,” said Lowery, who initially supported Clinton
but later switched his allegiance to Obama. “I don’t know why they’re not
taking their cue from Hillary and falling in line.”

Pat
Buchanan: “If Cold War II is coming, who started it, if not us?”
For
a man willing to blame Britain
for World War II,
this is an
easy call. Kevin Drum
has already addressed the
stupidity of the idea
that the U.S., in Buchanan’s words, might have given Georgia “a green light”
to invade South Ossetia, so read him for that. I’m more interested in the
two strands here. One is the isolationist point that it’s foolish and
dangerous for the U.S. to commit itself to defending foreign powers by
admitting them to NATO; whether NATO membership for Russia’s neighbors would
increase or actually reduce the risk of war is debatable, but on its own
terms that point is fair enough. It’s the second strand that carries the
distinctive Buchanan odor. Tell me if I’m wrong to read this — particularly
the tender description of Putin as a “Russian patriot” — as a
none-too-veiled attempt to defend Russian expansionism:
HEY

Team
Obama acknowledges infanticide lie
The
Barack Obama campaign has acknowledged that Obama himself lied about the
bill he torpedoed in 2003 that would have required medical providers to give
normal medical attention to infants born alive during an abortion. The
admission comes with a new spin, as the campaign finally admits that the
bill Obama defeated in committee was all but identical to the federal law
that passed the Senate unanimously in 2002: In this version, Obama finally
acknowledges that the bill he shot down as committee chair had the
neutrality clause, but now he voted against it because it would have had
some deleterious effect on abortion law. As the NRLC points out to Berman,
that’s flat-out untrue. The neutrality clause Obama now acknowledge existed
in the law explicitly stated that the law had no intent on affecting
abortions in which the fetus did not survive; that was the entire point
of the neutrality clause. Even without it, in the language of the original
bill, the law clearlt stated that it only applied to infants born alive.
Obama made this argument to oppose the
Illinois bill that would have forced Christ Hospital and other medical
providers to give life-supporting treatment to any infant born alive,
regardless of whether the birth occurred during an abortion or not.
Essentially, Obama argues that only those infants carried to term achieve
personhood through birth, not those he deems “pre-viable” but which were
born alive anyway.
Democratic presidential candidate
Barack Obama is harshly accusing a pro-life group of "lying" about his
record on abortion as a Illinois state senator, despite compelling evidence
on the pro-lifers' side.
Obama
almost says Clarence Thomas didn’t have enough experience to serve
Now isn't that the pot
calling the kettle black? Obama you don't have enough experience to carry
Clarence Thomas'
jock strap.
By the time Obama was nominated,
Clarence Thomas had worked in the Missouri Attorney General's office, served
as an Assistant Secretary of Education, run the Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission, and sat for a year on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, the
nation's second most prominent court.”
Obama, on the other hand, “isn't yet
four years out of the Illinois state Senate, has never held a hearing of
note [with] his U.S. Senate subcommittee, and had an unremarkable record as
both a ‘community organizer’ and law school lecturer,
Watch him catch himself mid-sentence,
the first fateful syllable of the word “experience” already out of his
mouth, before he stops short and switches gears by basically calling Thomas
a moron instead (at least, “at the time”) — an aspersion reinforced a moment
later by the implicit contrast he draws in praising Scalia’s brilliance. A
golden gaffe, narrowly avoided. Stay classy, Barry.
San
Francisco mayor proposes 'Trash Police' issue fines for unsorted trash
Garbage
collectors would inspect San Francisco residents' trash to make sure pizza
crusts aren't mixed in with chip bags or wine bottles under a proposal by
Mayor Gavin Newsom. And if residents or businesses don't separate the coffee
grounds from the newspapers, they would face fines of up to $1,000 and
eventually could have their garbage service stopped.
The plan to require proper sorting of
refuse would be the nation's first mandatory recycling and composting law.
It would direct garbage collectors to inspect the trash to make sure it is
put into the right blue, black or green bin, according to a draft of the
legislation prepared by the city's Department of the Environment.
Democrat Barack Obama met Sunday with
Texas oil baron and longtime conservative activist
T. Boone Pickens to
discuss strategies for developing alternative energy.
The presidential hopeful praised
Pickens as a "legendary entrepreneur" and deflected a question about the
billionaire's role in helping to fund a television ad campaign that
undermined John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic nominee.
During the 2004 presidential campaign,
Pickens spent $3 million to help bankroll the Swift Boat organization, a
group tied to supporters of President Bush that ran television ads
questioning Kerry's record as a swift boat commander during the Vietnam War.
The ads were believed to have damaged Kerry in several battleground states,
contributing to his narrow loss to Bush.
Hopefully,
members of Team McCain have rushed to remind John McCain that he needs to
energize the Republican base to support him, not to oppose
him. In an interview with Stephen Hayes of the
Weekly Standard
yesterday, John McCain suggested that Republicans might not mind a
pro-choice VP, as long as he suppported other portions of the
social-conservative agenda. He intended to draw a contrast between Tom
Ridge and Michael Bloomberg, but the comment threatens to draw lines within
the GOP instead
You have to love the DNC, just for
its sheer cluelessness. In
their new ad, they castigate John McCain for his
ties to Ralph Reed and Reed’s ties to Jack Abramoff, alleging that Reed
partnered with Abramoff in his crimes without actually having any evidence
to prove it. In doing so, they seem to forget that Barack Obama has his own
ties to Abramoff’s lobbying firm:

Politics by Assassination?
Did
the Kremlin order a hit on President John F. Kennedy in 1962? The former
chief of Communist Romania’s foreign intelligence service thinks so. And he
lays out his case in a recently published book with the title
Programmed to Kill: Lee Harvey Oswald, the Soviet KGB,
and the Kennedy Assassination. According
to Ion Mihai Pacepa, “all Soviet-bloc espionage services were identically
organized and had an identical modus operandi.” Pacepa also explained that,
“Soviet espionage operations …
Looking at the case of
Lee Harvey Oswald, Pacepa sees a KGB pattern. In
the mid-to-late 1950s the Soviet bloc intelligence services were ordered to
recruit American servicemen. To this end, loose women were used as
“spotters” at bars and nightclubs located near U.S. military bases in
Germany and Japan. They were told to watch for U.S. servicemen sympathetic
to left-liberal or Marxist ideas. Lee Harvey Oswald was not only an America
serviceman stationed in Japan in 1957. He was fascinated by Marxism. As a
Marine Corps radar operator Oswald also possessed clues to the flight
altitude of the American U-2 spy plane. It was no accident, therefore, that
the Soviet Union shot down a U-2 spy plane piloted by Francis Gary Powers on
1 May 1960.
Everything you wanted to know about Georgia...... But were afraid to ask.
With
its invasion of Georgia, Russia has announced to the world that its
superpower status is back. The Kremlin is once more flexing its military
muscles -- the same way it did between 1945 and 1991, and the results are
turning out to be just as bloody. There are already hundreds of dead and
thousands of wounded and refugees.
The tiny region of South Ossetia, located in the Caucuses mountains of
southern Russia, is at the center of these tensions. It is a complicated
conflict within conflicts. Georgia, which broke away from the Soviet Union
after its collapse in 1991, tried to reclaim ownership of South Ossetia,
which had separated from its territory about the same time. In another
brutal war that ended in 1993, rebellious South Ossetia, which has about
70,000 people (about a fifth are ethnic Georgians) and is about one and a
half times the size of the tiny principality of Luxembourg, had successfully
defended itself against Georgia’s first attempt to reincorporate it.

Heiberg said he had talked to China's
political authorities and Olympics organisers about the issue.
"I've asked them to get people to
smile more," he said, noting that his request was met with ... laughs.

Obamanomics Flunks
The Test
Barack Obama the lawyer-organizer
could use a crash course in economics. His economic plan's assumptions,
based on long-discredited Marxist theories, are wildly wrongheaded.
In arguing for a heavier mix of
government, he assumes that capitalism unfairly favors the rich, almost
exclusively so, and fails to spread prosperity.
"The rich in America have little to
complain about," he carps. "The distribution of wealth is skewed, and levels
of inequality are now higher than at any time since the Gilded Age."
Obama cites data showing a yawning gap
between the income of the average worker and the wealthiest 1%. He thinks
it's government's job to step in and close it — "for purposes of fairness" —
by soaking the rich, among other leftist nostrums.
During a primary debate, the ABC host
took Obama to task for proposing a doubling in the capital gains tax.
History shows, he pointed out, that raising
the cap gains rate actually ends up costing the government revenues.
Obama just didn't get it. "Well,
Charlie," he argued, "what I've said is that
I would look at raising the capital gains tax for
purposes of fairness."
Barack Obama calls it "Universal
Voluntary Public Service." We call it a plan for national involuntary
servitude. Kennedy asked us what we could do for our country. Obama has ways
to make us volunteer.
Obama's
Orwellian use of the words "universal" and "voluntary" together is an
indicator of an antithesis to capitalist society deeply rooted in his
socialist associations, education and training. Indeed, in 1996, when he ran
for an Illinois state Senate seat, one of
his first endorsements was from the Chicago branch of the Democratic
Socialists of America.
Obama says that as president he will
"set a goal for all American middle and high school students to perform 50
hours of service a year, and for all college students to perform 100 hours
of service a year." What he doesn't say is
that he'll make such voluntarism compulsory by attaching strings to federal
education dollars. The schools will make the kids volunteer.
It's called plausible deniability.
The man who includes being a
community organizer on his short resume has a long association with a
far-left group that would organize our communities into socialist gulags.
In 1995, Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar
balked at implementing the federal motor voter law out of concern that
letting people register via postcard and blocking the state from pruning
voter rolls might invite vote fraud.
A young lawyer, a community organizer
himself, sued on behalf of the Association of Community Organizations for
Reform Now (Acorn) and won. The young lawyer was Barack Obama. Acorn later
invited Obama to train its staff.
Acorn has been in the lead in opposing
voter ID laws and other efforts to ensure ballot integrity. Acorn has been
implicated in voter fraud and bogus registration schemes in Ohio and at
least 13 other states. Acorn staffers will presumably be out registering
voters again this year.
Obama also opposes voter ID laws. He
believes they disenfranchise voters. Last year, Obama put a hold on the
nomination of Hans von Spakovsky for a seat on the Federal Election
Commission. It seems von Spakovsky, as an official in the Justice
Department, had supported a Georgia photo ID law. Acorn espouses the leftist
view that voter ID laws are racist.
The mainstream media have finally
gotten around to revealing Barack Obama's early mentor. But they've
downplayed the mystery man's communist background.
A careful reading of Obama's first
memoir, "Dreams From My Father," reveals that his childhood mentor up to the
age of 18 — a man he refers to only as "Frank" — was none other than the
late communist Frank Marshall Davis, who fled Chicago after the FBI and
Congress opened investigations into his "subversive," "un-American
activities."
In fact, Davis was a member of the
Moscow-controlled Communist Party USA, according to the 1953 report of the
Commission on Subversive Activities of the Territory of Hawaii, which
labeled him "a bitter opponent of capitalism." The report was introduced as
evidence in the U.S. Senate Internal Security Subcommittee hearings probing
the "Scope of Soviet Activity in the United States."
Davis wrote militant poems as a black
writer in Chicago, including one in which he hails the Soviet revolution:
"Smash on, victory-eating Red Army." He also attacked traditional
Christianity, titling one inflammatory screed, "Christ is a Dixie Nigger."
Obama's Favorite Rap Artist Ludacris Vows To "Paint The White House Black"
The song, which proclaims that an
Obama presidency is America's destiny, describes Senator Hilary Clinton as a
bitch and President George W Bush as "mentally handicapped".
It also says Mr Obama's presidential
rival Senator John McCain doesn't belong "in any chair unless he's paralysed".
Ludacris is one of a number of
musicians who have endorsed Mr Obama's campaign to become the first Black
president.
Obama: "While Ludacris is a talented
individual he should be ashamed of these
lyrics."
I'm back on it like I just signed my

it got sex appeal. Never should have hated, You never should've doubted him.
With a slot in the president's iPod Obama

Well give Luda a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer. Better yet put
him in office, make me your vice president.
Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant.
Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what? If you said it then you meant
it how you want it have a gut! And all you other politicians trying to
hate on my man, watch us win a majority vote in every state on my man.
You can't stop what's bout to happen,
we bout to make history. The first black president is destined and it's
meant to be. The threats ain't fazing us,
the nooses or the jokes. So get off your
ass, black people, it's time to get out and vote!
Paint the White House black and I'm sure that's got 'em
terrified. McCain don't belong in any chair unless he's paralyzed. Yeah I
said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped.
Ball up all of his speeches and I throw 'em like candy wrap. 'cause what you
talking I hear nothing even relevant, and you the worst of all 43
presidents. Get out and vote or the end will be near. The world is ready for
change because Obama is here! 'cause Obama is here. The world is ready for
